General principles

• “The Annual of Ibero-Caucasian Linguistics” publishes papers regarding the issues of Ibero-Caucasian languages and general linguistics.
• Papers should report the results of original research. The material should not have been previously published elsewhere, except in a preliminary form.
• Papers are published in Georgian, English or Russian.

• Papers should include a summary and a reference list presented according to the citation rules created by the editorial board.

• All papers are read by anonymous reviewers.

• Papers are submitted via email: Caucasian.linguistics@gmail.com

• Papers are sent as MS-Word document (size A4) along with their PDF version
• Only papers of no more than 20 pages (including a summary and a reference list) should normally be submitted for publication.
• If a paper consists of several chapters (or subsections), they should be indicated as follows:

Chapter 1

• Pages should be numbered.

• Tables, diagrams, illustrations, pictures, etc. should be numbered;

• All sources referenced in a text should be included in a reference list.

• At the top of a paper various components of a text are to follow in the order shown below:
  1. Author’s (authors’) full name; institution;
  2. Contact information (an email address);
  3. Title;
  4. Paper Type (Research, Review);
  5. Key words (no more than 5);
  6. Summary (no more than 250 words).

In-text references

 One author: (Chikobava 1936);

• Two authors: (Gamkrelidze, Machavariani 1965);
• Three or more authors: (Uturgaidze, etc. 2006);
• Two or more works by the same author: (Chikobava 1936, 1938);
• Two or more works by the same author in the same year: (Uturgaidze 2006(a), 2006(b))
• Different authors: (Chikobava 1938; Shanidze 1953);

• Revised edition: (Chikobava 2008 [1938]);

• Newspaper article: (A name of a newspaper 2008);

• Encyclopedia, vocabulary: (the first word of a title, Abbreviation… 2007: 145);

• Pages: (Chikobava 2008: 28), (Chikobava 2008: 140-145).

Formatting requirements

• All Fonts are Sylfaen with size 11, line spacing 1.0, all margins 25mm, unless stated otherwise.
• Main title – font size 14, bold;
• Subtitles – font size 12, bold
• Author – font size 12, bold;
• Symbols – font ICL_SYMBOL (used for Ibero-Caucasian examples if needed, see. https://www.aicl.ge).

To avoid using double round brackets, square brackets should be used inside a parenthesized phrase: (as Chikobava [1936: 15-16] stated).

Language material in a text

• Translations and explanations of examples are enclosed in single quotes immediately following the example, e.g. კოჩი მეურს (Chikobava 1936: 35) ‘A man is going’ (Georgian);
• Examples are numbered with parenthesised Arabic numerals, e.g. (1), (2), (3), and where possible set off in a separate paragraph:

(1)  ბერეფექ ლაზუტი გამაჩეს (Chikobava 1936: 51,7) ‘The children sold their corn’;
(2)  ია ფარაშ მოგუშა იგზალუ (Kartozia 1965: 71,3) ‘He went to earn money’;
(3) a. მუღი სქანი მოგეი Фარაჲა! (Kartozia 1965: ) ‘Bring the money that you won’;
     b. მოგაფერი ფარა ქომუღი (Kartozia 1965: 139, 29) ‘Bring the won money’;

• In the text, examples are given in the original alphabet following the Latin transcription;
• Examples used in the text are referenced as follows: see (2), see (3a).

Tables, Diagrams, Illustrations

 Tables are numbered, given a caption above;

• Illustrations (pictures, diagrams, figures, etc) are numbered, given a caption below.

Annex and Comments

 An annex is at the end of a paper preceding a comment section.

• Comments precede a reference list;
• Comments should be numbered as follows: text¹

Reference list

 .All and only works mentioned in the text must be included in the references;

• Authors should be presented with full names;
• Several works of the same author should be presented in a chronological order: old, new.
• In English references, used sources should be presented in the original language of the source followed by the English translation in square brackets;
• When referencing several authors, “etc.” should not be used as all of them should be presented with full names.
